How I started taking Actor Headshots

For over ten years I’ve worked as a photographer taking actor headshots in and around London.  Having trained and worked an actor myself I quickly realised the need to offer a high quality actor headshot session at an affordable price whilst making the whole photography experience as relaxed as possible.

What started as me taking a headshot or two for friends has turned into a dynamic photography studio capturing superb quality headshots at actor friendly prices.

Everyone in our industry knows the importance of the headshot. It’s the casting directors first ‘meeting’ with you; it’s the opening line to any correspondence you will have will have a casting director.

You will hear some photographers claim that a killer headshot will get you a role, audition, or casting.  Casting directors aren’t that daft! A casting director already has an impression of the actor they want to fill the role.  So when they invite you to audition having seen your spotlight photo, that’s who they expect to see walking through the door.  Time and again the most important quality a headshot must have is that it looks like you.

My job as a photographer is to capture authentic headshots that demonstrate your casting range.

At the end of the shoot, you will have a choice of over 100 photographs from which to choose your 4-6 stunning photos, which will sell you in the best possible light.

I keep my overheads low, by having a simple portable studio, working outdoors and travelling around London.  This means I can pass on my savings to the actor and charge a sensible price for a headshot session.  I believe it’s important for you to feel relaxed during your headshot session, so I do all the hard work to ensure that you feel comfortable and happy during the shoot.  One of the best compliments I receive is that the “shoot was fun.” People have actually enjoyed having their headshots taken!
