You can just imagine the outrage in the Daily Mail… It’ll raise house prices, give you cancer, we’ll be swamped by immigrants….
Ok, maybe it’s not that radical, but as part of my service to actors I’m offering to set up a small, simple, and very effective headshot portrait studio in their own front room. It’s not as crazy as it sounds. Using the Nikon creative lighting system (CLS for short) I can be up and running with headshot studio in about 5 minutes flat. Just enough time to do your hair or make me a cuppa (milk no sugar).
I need a space of around 3 meters in length to work in and about 2 meters wide, and before you can say, “cheese” I’m up and running shooting superb headshots.
Why do I want headshots in my front room?
By all means you’re allowed to visit me at my studio. But think of the stress of travelling on public transport, carrying a change of clothes and all your make-up (that’s just the boys). Then imagine having access to your make-up desk, your wardrobe, standing there in your slippers!* and just being in the most comfortable place to you – your own home. Let me deal with the logistics. The kit I travel with is so light, simple and easy to use that I can hope on and off tubes, buses and trains on my way to an actor headshot photography session.
*(don’t worry I won’t tell anyone)
I prefer outdoor headshots anyway
Me too. Nothing lovelier that being out in the open on a warm sunny day, shooting headshots in the heat of the midday afternoon. Gorgeous light falling on the subject…. Hang-on, we live in Britain! For those 3 days of the year when it is possible – brilliant, when it’s not, I need a backup plan. Using the same equipment means I can take a lot of the uncertainty out of an actors headshot shoot. Having so much control means we can head out to your garden, local park, or anywhere you feel would be suitable for a headshot photographer to take your picture.
I’ve put together a little film with the devilishly handsome (ahem) actor Christian Edwards showing how simply and quickly I can set up an actor headshot photography studio in your own front room.
